Look through this list for great resources to use for any health related research assignment.
Medline Plus – This website offers great information on a wide variety of medical conditions and health related topics. Medline Plus is maintained by the National Institute of Health, a part of the US Government. You could use this source to do initial background reading on a new topic or look for ideas for a topic.
Britannica Academic – This online encyclopedia is an excellent place to start researching health conditions. There are articles on common health conditions, treatments, and important historic health figures.
PubMed.Gov – This government website lets you search for scholarly articles on a countless health topics. Note that some articles on PubMed will be available to read the full article whereas others will be available as short summaries. If you find an article where the whole article is not available or behind a paywall contact the Library for help locating the complete article.
EBSCOhost – The EBSCOhost database has millions of health related resources. EBSCO is the best resources for scholarly articles (called Academic Journals in EBSCO). EBSCO also contains useful newspaper and magazine articles on numerous health topics. The collections Health Source: Nursing Edition and MEDLINE are both located within EBSCO.
The Library Book & eBook Collections – The Library maintains a large collection of books and eBooks on health and medicine. It is highly recommended you search our book collection for books on your topic. Books are an especially useful when beginning to research a new topic.
Newspapers and Magazines – These are reliable but non-scholarly sources of information on human health. Some examples are the NPR, the New York Times, US News, the Guardian, or BBC News. Use the search function on these sites to look for articles.
