To begin genealogical research, start with Ancestry. Ancestry provides access to U.S. Census records, Pennsylvania Death Certificates (beginning with 1906), and military and immigration records.

MyHeritage also provides access to common genealogical records, such as U.S. Census, military, immigration, and foreign records. It also contains family trees.

As an Afflilate, there is access to limited resources. The popular web service has over 6 billion searchable names and 2 billion images of historical genealogical records—and you get the helpful assistance of library staff. This link is only available in the library.

History Commons (formerly Accessible Archives) provides full-text for county histories from all states, in addition to, a large selection of African-American and Women-specific newspapers. It includes other 18th and 19th Century resources.
